The healthcare industry has spent billions of patient dollars on IT systems, but has yet to provide an interoperable medical record for patients. The industry has failed the patient as they pursued their own business interests, profits.
Now other companies are entering the market because the healthcare industry and its software vendors do not understand the movement towards patient-centric systems. Healthcare needs reform because they have fallen so far behind other industries. Doctors should get over it and join the real world and adopt computer technology.
