Blogging in the British NHS
by Lloyd Davis
I wanted to let folk here know that I’ve started an experiment in using social media for the Primary Care Trust in Surrey (a county immediately to the south-west of London). The Surrey Healthcare Blog has focused so far on community health services and I’ve interviewed and written about such things as Falls Awareness for Older People, Pulmonary Rehab for people with COPD and Chlamydia Screening for the Under-25s.
We’re using video and audio presentation as well as writing and photography. We’ve deliberately used free web-based tools for blogging, photosharing and videosharing. You can find our flickr photostream here: http://www.flickr.com/photos/surreyhealthcare/ and our videos on blip.tv http://surreypctblog.blip.tv/
Although the focus of our activity is on making the online conversation about healthcare in Surrey a bit smarter, I’d also be really interested to hear from the international group represented here what you might find interesting as well as whether there are other similar local initiatives in other countries.
