Matthew Holt interviews Jonathan Cohn, author of “Sick”

by Matthew Holt

Matthew interviewed Jonathan Cohn, the author of “Sick: The Untold Story of America’s Health Care Crisis — and the People Who Pay the Price”, at the recent 4th Annual World Health Care Congress. Cohn, a senior editor at The New Republic, lucidly shows, says this New York Times review, “how America’s system for financing medical care helps determine who gets proper medical attention — and who doesn’t.”

Recently read “Sick” — the American healthcare system needs radical change, not musical chairs with new players replacing the old money train. As with the Vietnam War and the DRAFT, when upper middle class begins to feel vulnerable, things happen. My sister has been a nurse for 30 years, these traumatic stories are nothing new. Thanks for raising the (final) reconcilliation of the access/quality problems. As with any other product, (tremendous) access drives quality. Medicare DOES work! Universal access on deck! Charlie Rangel, your friends are watching — make this YOUR legacy — and make those of us who pounded the pavement for you back in the 60s as kids…proud! Thanks Matt!
