We have 50 countries from 5 continents - the diversity is a treasure. We do have some people from India - it is important that we recognize that healthcare is not just for rich countries.

Each country has its own unique approach to healthcare policy and finance, however the fundamental issues and solutions are the same.
For example:
1. Proactive care management - the increased prevalence of chronic disease - 72% of the whole burden. Across europe more than 1 in 6 suffer from at least 1 chronic disease. WHO has predicted a huge rise in diabetes - Ontario faces a rise of 69%. We will hear from people who are using prediction to support prevention, using interactive tools and patient-centred services.
2. IT systems - topics include health strategies, integration of record systems and patient-centric systems - increase satisfaction while reducing costs
3. Improving performance - there’s a shift towards paying for performance so hospitals are reviewing their ways of allocating costs leading to redesign of care as well as financial management.
4. Electronic Health Records - considerable progress since last year. Sweden Netherlands and France have all made progress - we will also hear progress at the hospital level.
Speakers will talk here about patient-centric attitudes - requires quite a transformation in how healthcare professionals work together.
